Thank you HoC for this.
Oddly, I think I've had a meth flashback while listening to this and meth is one of few drugs I've never tried. Weird.
This remains me I need to make an appointment with my psychiatrist.
Cool! Obstacle of Affliction
As a Neurosis fan of twenty+ years I’ve been milking this album for seven. I can’t set a favorite track, I can only hope to justify a vinyl purchase within the next seven years . The machine element doesn’t just ‘work’ with the other instruments, lubricating their dread, their rage. That would have been enough. But no, the talent here is so real that these truly ‘Industrial’ beats also simultaneously fuel, and imprison the instruments. Likewise the listener. Like a factory. Zachary Simon
Saw this band live 12 times, they never disappointed. There is a darkness and nihilism in this album that is unsurpassed anywhere. This became the soundtrack in my head and still is all those years later. It's a fucking masterpiece, mankind's miserable, tortured souless scream. A thing of unspeakable beauty. Buy or die. mark salt
